Oddball Character Design
Oddballs, the eye-instead-of-head look, came from a challenge to myself years ago. I had gotten hung up in drawing faces for years and wanted to focus on other elements that are so important to character design. Things like clothing, body language, body types, and the extra challenge of making an eyeball emote.
I enjoy the challenge this design brings, and use it as a teaching tool for others in my online community. After all, first lesson in illustration is often shading spheres!
